Back at uni, one of my art tutors once told my class that we must always try to sketch for about 1/2 an hour a day, no matter what. I hear it being called “warm-up sketching” or “cool-down sketching” now, but that sounds way too much like going to the gym for me. To me, it’s doodling with no pressure, maybe working through ideas or just practicing. Because it seems that I’m unable to just watch TV or a film without doing something else at the same time, I normally sketch then, and this is a little sketch I did the other night. Most of my sketches aren’t worth posting, but I love the patterns in this and how the headscarf is just piled high on her head.
